Ruminant was conceived, written, and illustrated during my first successful 24 Hour Comics Day challenge (October 7th and 8th, 2017). I applied limited coloring in that initial sprint (just the sky in the night/space shots), but after five hours of sleep, I woke up and decided to fully color it (in grayscale). It was such an awesome challenge that I'll prooooobably do again. Because, hey, I hung out in my favorite comics shop (Mission: Comics & Art) with a group of cartoonists and got a whole dang book out of it.
